The Delta Air Transport Heritage Museum, Inc. (now known as the Delta Flight Museum) was officially founded on May 23, 1995 as a nonprofit museum dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of Delta and its family of over 40 airlines today.
What began with the restoration of Ship 41, one of Delta’s first DC-3s, to the addition of a Delta 747-400 and soon a DC-7B, we’ve grown from welcoming hundreds of visitors a year to over 100K last year alone.
It is thanks to our visitors, generous donors and volunteers that we’ve been able to modernize our 1940s aircraft hangars, add and restore aircraft in the Museum collection, offer public programming like tours and events, and welcome visitors of all ages from both our airline family and the general public.
We sincerely appreciate all your support over the years, and although we are closed at this time due to COVID-19, we hope to reopen in the near future to continue bringing you the wonder of aviation and travel.
While we’re closed, we are actively working to add more online content, including our new Digital Archives of aircraft brochures, Delta timetables and airline annual reports since 1926.
