Ship 41 turns 75!

 DC-3 Ship 41

Ship 41 was the first new DC-3 to carry revenue passengers for Delta on December 24, 1940, and remained in service until April 1958. Delta purchased five new DC-3 aircraft in 1940, and later acquired an additional 18 from other airlines and military surplus.

Ship 41 remains the only Delta passenger DC-3 left in existence. Delta Air Lines is the only air carrier known to possess its first new revenue-carrying DC-3.

This plane was located in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1991, and in 1993 was flown back to its original home to start a new beginning. Several years of restoration have produced the finest DC-3 in existence.

December 24, 2015 marks the 75th anniversary of Ship 41. We will offer an up close look (from 10 AM-12 PM) of the DC-3 with the purchase of admission on December 21, 22, and 24. Please come join us!
