Next item to be cleaned for the new exhibits, one of the oldest artifacts in the Archives. This leather covered wicker seat is from one of Delta's first passenger planes. The wicker covers a sparse amount of metal - a very lightweight seat for saving fuel. It likely had a green seat cushion to match.
Delta inaugurated passenger service in 1929 in with a Travel Air S-6000-B. A "DeLuxe" closed cabin that was designed for four passengers and two pilots. Because Delta flew with one pilot, a fifth passenger could sit in the co-pilot seat.
