Even before the passage of the Air Carrier Access Act of 1986, Delta was trying to make flying easier for everyone.
Continuing our journey to share artifacts & stories not currently shared within the museum, we chose to highlight Delta’s accessibility efforts. We are displaying objects that have never been on exhibit before.
While we were curating the exhibit, the Museum archives team received an email from someone who was cleaning out old drawers in the Tallahassee airport. In the drawer, they found a few Passenger Safety Information books in Braille. This is the earliest braille safety guide in the Delta archives now.
Thanks to Chantal Rossi, Tallahassee Station Manager, for finding this and contacting the archives so we could preserve this artifact.
We hope to receive more artifacts to the collection so we can continue our effort to highlight stories of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within the Delta community.
The exhibit is now on display in the museum. Check out our calendar for our up-to-date hours before you visit.
